Bolanle: “I agreed to meet up with Korede after a few weeks of him begging me. Our first date was at The Southern Gentleman and I was immediately impressed by his promptness and charming looks. He continued to gain points as I learned more about his goals and values. We were having so much fun that I didn’t want the night to end. In true Korede fashion, the date never really ended as we continued to text and he’d already begun planning the next one. I can’t wait to marry my Southern Gentleman 🥰”
Our First Date

The Proposal Story
Bolanle thought she would be joining her friend as a plus one to an “Ophthalmology Conference Gala”. I’ve had a poor track record with surprises, which that gave me the advantage - Bolanle would be underestimating me. My plan was to get her by the seaside of the Boston Harbor where I would be waiting with music, flowers and ring in hand. Afterwards, we would go to an event spaced I had rented out where some of our family and friends would be waiting to surprise her. I was planning to sweep her off her feet.

By the morning of “The Day”, I was the one left off-balance. First, my car had been towed, next the weather forecast was working against my plans - it was supposed to rain throughout the day, and just when I thought things couldn’t get worse, the caterer called to say that they couldn’t fulfill my order. Thankfully, our friends and family stepped in to help. By midday, they had the food, decorations, and logistics under control. After Googling and calling virtually every restaurant in Boston, and just three hours before the proposal, I found a restaurant willing to lend me their private dining room. Bolanle had zero idea about any of this…

The hosts at the restaurant were incredibly helpful. They printed menus with our names on them and helped with decor. When Bolanle walked in 15 minutes later, she asked for “The Ophthalmology conference”, and was ushered to the dining room, where I was waiting on one knee. I had her. When Bolanle walked in 15 minutes later, she asked for “The Ophthalmology Conference Gala”, and was ushered to the dining room, where I was waiting on one knee. I had her. In hindsight, my original plan seemed lackluster. Despite all the setbacks, the way everything came together was far better than I could have imagined. God must have orchestrated it all. In the end, it wasn’t about the perfect weather or the original plan - it was about us, our love, and the people we cherish. And that made the proposal unforgettable.
